About Us
The Ibiza Preservation Fund (IPF) aims to help preserve Ibiza’s exceptional beauty and natural value, currently threatened by mass tourism development, and to promote sustainable initiatives.
The Fund will raise money from people from all over the world who care about Ibiza’s future. Funds raised will be used to support cutting-edge environmental initiatives, carried out by organizations on the island, or other Spanish groups that try to influence policies that affect the island.
The Fund was set up in 2008, by William Aitken and Serena Cook, both of whom have a long-standing personal connection with Ibiza. William and Serena have drawn on the support of Ben Goldsmith in creating the IPF, given Ben’s experience setting up The Manuka Club (www.manukaclub.org) to help support local environmental groups in the United Kingdom.
The Fund is supported administratively by The Ecology Trust, an English grant-making charity established by the Goldsmith family in 2003 (charity number 1099222). Funds raised for the Ibiza Preservation Fund are held in the Ecology Trust’s account, to be used to support work identified as a priority. Decisions on priorities are based on research work on the state of the environment in Ibiza carried out by experienced Spanish advisers, and an on-going dialogue with local environmental NGOs.
